A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3.1)

Goodreads synopsis:

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

So………

I feel like authors nowadays are not getting paid enough because they keep  putting out books that are unnecessary and should have been priced cheaper. This book should have been listed for like $3.99 because of the fact how short it was and because it is a filler novella for the next big book. I feel like Maas is always trying to appease her readers, therefore, changing her vision of her books at time to sustain that relationship. Either way, I do love her books and the series itself but not everyone needs a book and her series should not have to be stretched so long. Yes, I am excited for what the future holds, but is Maas a strong enough author to keep up the momentum? How many books is took much? Because Tower of Dawn was trash and we all know it! Are you not deviating from the plot when you have plans to do only a certain amount of books?

My rambling aside…

I did enjoy the book but I liked more of getting into the heads of other characters. I am tired of being in Feyre’s head and I reallllly reallllly wish there could have been more chapters with the other character’s perspectives.

-Feyre

…Is always swaddled in guilt. Yes, her life has been littered with strife and is bearing  a lot of tragedy but her thoughts are always ladled in misery all the time and it can become tiresome. She is also troubled by the fact that she now has money and feels guilty about it. Like, of course your wealthy, your mate is a king *rolls eyes* Maybe I am just tired of her after three other books but I did like the chapters where she learns how to appreciate and love painting again! I feel like this a trend I follow: I love a series but after like 10000 books withing a character’s head, I get impatient. Maybe because Feyre is similar to Aelin…?

-Rhys

Hot as always! Well, that’s about it. No further depth into his character-except the scenes with him and Tamlin-which were surprising.

-Tamlin

Does make an appearance in the book… a very brief and depressing one. I wonder why Maas shows his devastated-it was pretty obvious that he would be miserable so why also discuss it? To provoke pity? Or a hint that he will finally find a person to love? After the way he treated Feyre, he can suck it!

-Cassian + Nessa

Is finally going to happen in the next book and I can already tell it’s going to be a real tearjerker that punches you in the gonads. Nessa is understandably a mess after what has happened and everyone feels helpless about how to fix her. I read some reviews about how Nessa is portrayed and how everyone hates her. Honestly, I totally and 100% emphasized with Nessa and there were times that I shared the same experience.

Dealing with depression myself, it is very difficult for me to ask for help and allow others to help me. because of that, I come of as aggressive and difficult to deal with. friends and family then become frustrated with me and then I feel worse because I blame myself for being messed up. Feyre is jumping through hoops to try to fix Nessa and everyone gets mad at Nessa for not accepting help. So, I feel sympatheic for Nessa because I have been in her shoes.

-Elian/Azriel/Lucien???

-Okay. So It is ovbious that Az and Elian have a connection and Elian refuses to give Lucien the time of day and she is still upset about that human guy dropping her like a bad habit. So… I feel like Maas is going to have Elian’s book where Elian and Az fall in love and Lucien gets mad but then realizes that his true mate is that phoniex queen. Right? Wrong? I do not care but I feel like there are going to be like 6 more books.

Either way…

Ehhh… I should have used that money to buy lunch… (Wow, I sound so cynical. Maybe I need to stop reading so many YA’s….)
