A faceless moon

It touched my heart, how she
crooned in the chorus; bled harmony
and heartbreak in the denouement. the joy,
the agony, the despair that pulled at
the heartstrings-masterfully like
the quiet thrum of the guitar.
how wondrous! how awful!
they gasp as her song stutters
on the last note. like a wolf
howling at a faceless moon,
the note stained the night
a depthless black.
