When you kiss my lips,
I remember my fury,
When your hands caress me,
I remember the pain,
When you promise to be loyal,
I forgive the girl who believed the lies.
I must learn how to forgiveandforget–
Honk, honk!
A hastily written diary entry,
Scribbled quickly in a pink moleskin,
Pigtails swinging with the desperate pace,
Memories transfer on the paper, overlapping and scratched–
Ink solidifying the ancient, raw feelings,
The interrupted passion, the misunderstood lust, but the pain, the pain stays the same.
She cried as she wrote, a story woven with
cosmic wondrous wonder and a grown woman’s strife:
forgiveandforget,forgiveandforget–
Honk, honk!
Interruptions, interruptions come a mile a minute in the suburbs touched with smog and tired eyes,
She is sobbing now as the the words flow fluidity, the arguments rising louder, louder,
Neighbors, stacked and cramped
cover their ears as they hear the angry words, the crashing, the stink of expired love clogging the thin, thin Jersey air.
Shaking their heads and muttering under their breath:
“Damn, what did she do now?”
Beautiful piece.
